Who We Are

A Distinct Identity

The George H. Carleton Fund was established in the interest of providing for the care and maintenance of respectable persons in Georgetown, Massachusetts who are senior citizens and unable to support themselves in comfort. The fund contributes grants to the Georgetown Council on Aging and other non-profit organizations that serve these populations.

In 2016, the Trustees of the Carleton Fund nominated the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF) to receive funds from the Trust and further appoint an Advisory Committee familiar with the field of interest of the George H. Carleton Fund.

Members of the George H. Carleton Fund Advisory Committee have been elected to advise, recommend and direct as appropriate, the promotion for the George H. Carleton Fund along with the management, rising of funds and dispositions of available funds.

The original nine trustees included: Lawrence L. Chaplin, Sylvester A. Donoghue, Alice C. Noyes, Amanda A. Hoyt, Mary A. Palmer, Eliza K. Giles, Elizabeth M. Bateman, Chauncey O. Noyes and Harry E. Perkins.

Current Advisory Committee includes: Beverly Knapp (Chairperson), Jim Boynton, Carolyn Boynton, Gary Evans and Janet Evans.
